Overview

A breast lift (mastopexy) elevates and reshapes sagging breasts, repositioning the nipple-areola complex to a more youthful height. Dr. Kieu customizes the lift technique to your degree of ptosis (sagging), removing excess skin and tightening breast tissue for lasting results.

Who This Is For

  • Women with breast sagging due to aging, pregnancy, or weight loss
  • Patients with downward-pointing nipples or nipples below the breast crease
  • Those with elongated, stretched breast tissue
  • Women whose breasts have lost volume and firmness

Who This Is Not For

  • Women who desire significant volume increase (augmentation may be needed)
  • Patients who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Individuals with significant weight fluctuation plans
  • Those with active breast infections or skin conditions

The Process

1

Assessment: Dr. Kieu evaluates the degree of ptosis, skin quality, breast tissue volume, and areola size to determine the appropriate lift technique (crescent, circumareolar, vertical, or anchor pattern).

2

Planning: The surgical plan is designed to achieve optimal breast shape and nipple position while minimizing visible scarring. Incision patterns are discussed in detail.

3

Procedure: Performed under general anesthesia. Excess skin is removed, breast tissue is reshaped and tightened, and the nipple-areola complex is repositioned higher on the breast mound.

4

Healing: A surgical bra is worn for several weeks. Most patients return to work within 7-10 days. Scars fade significantly over 6-12 months, and final breast shape settles at 3-6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a breast lift reduce my breast size?
A breast lift primarily reshapes and lifts the breasts, but some reduction in volume occurs from the removal of excess skin. If you desire significant size change, a lift can be combined with augmentation or reduction.
Can I combine a breast lift with implants?
Yes, a breast lift with augmentation (often called a 'lift and fill') is a common combination for women who want both elevation and volume restoration.
How long do breast lift results last?
Results are long-lasting, but gravity, aging, and significant weight or pregnancy changes can cause recurrent sagging over time. Maintaining a stable weight helps preserve results.
Will I lose nipple sensation?
Some temporary change in nipple sensation is common. Permanent loss of sensation is possible but relatively rare with modern surgical techniques.
